Dawn Sewin Windows — Teifi, Cenarth
Cenarth at first light: the first two hours after sunrise are prime for sewin.

The lower River Teifi runs true from April to October, with the heaviest sewin traffic from late May through August. Dull, overcast mornings bring the earliest movement; fish show in the first couple of hours after sunrise rather than waiting for full daylight.
Where to watch and cast
Focus on staging water: tail‑outs of pools, glides, seams where fast and slow meet, undercut banks, overhanging tree lines, weed beds and boulder‑strewn channels. On the Teifi at Cenarth the seam beside the main current tongue and the soft edge beside deeper water are the highest-probability lies; look for water that offers cover rather than flat glassy runs.
Low‑light flies must read as a silhouette. Proven patterns include Silver Stoat’s Tail, Stoats Tail, Curry’s Red Shrimp, March Brown spider, black hopper and brown & silver sedge. Stick to darker and silver profiles in varied shapes; flies up to 1 inch before dark and larger once the light fades remain a practical rule.
Tackle leans stout for sea trout: a 9 ft rod or 9 ft 6 in rod in 5–6 wt with a floating line suits summer levels. Leaders and tippet should use at least 10 lb breaking strain, 12–15 lb preferred, and avoid fragile mono on the final dropback.
First light often shows as a flash along an undercut bank or a slack seam where a sewin surges and the line strips tight.
