Marking of hooks
Russian standard
The sizes of fishing hooks are indicated using a formula that indicates:
The width (number) of the hook;
The thickness of the thread;
The length of the hook.
For example, a hook marked #5—0.2—10 means the following:
the width of the hook is 5 mm
the thickness of the thread is 0.2 mm
hook length - 10 mm.
In the Russian marking of fishing hooks, Roman numerals indicate different types of hooks:
I - a single-bend hook, single-bend with a blade
II - single bend with ring
III - bifold with a blade
IV - double bend with a ring.
Marking "2x strong"
This means that the hooks are made of wire designed for hooks one size larger.
Marking "2x long"
This means that the hook length is twice as long as a standard hook of the same size (from this manufacturer).
Marking "2x wide" (hooks with a large width)
These are hooks in which the distance between the tip and the upper point of the hook barb is increased compared to standard fishing hooks. In the case of marking "2x wide" will be:
or doubled distance;
or it will have the same distance as the standard one, but one size larger.
