The design of the fly rod
Fly rods are two-ply or four-ply. One of the weakest places in the rod is the place where the knees join. In the manufacture of fly fishing rods, three types of connections are used:
the upper part of the form is inserted into the lower knee;
the lower part enters the upper knee;
a carbon fiber connecting pin is built into the lower element of the rod.
Two-component models
Four components
The advantage of four-component fly rods is a longer length.
Pass rings
Fly rods have two types of rings.
Ceramic rings
They are found not only in fly rods, but also in spinning, match, feeder rods.
Snake rings made of stainless wire
They are considered traditional for a fly fishing rod. They have advantages:
When fishing in the cold season, the rings resist freezing for a certain time;
They do not distort the shape of the blank and do not increase the weight of the fishing rod.
Reel holders
The fly rod has a reel holder. There are two types of coil holders.
Lightweight reel holders
These are double clamping rings for lightweight rods.
Screw reel holders
Mounted for medium and heavy fly rods.
Handle
The handle of most fly fishing rods is cork. There are also handles made of synthetic rubber, in cheaper models. There are 2 forms of handle for a fly rod:
Classic form
This form comes with a lightweight reel seat.
Cigar type
This type of handle comes with a screw reel holder.
